- During this project we split the process down into bits and handed them out accordingly. i feel that we did a good job of giving jobs to people who those areas where their strengths were. Me and Will were given the task of concept design, with input from the other members of the team we created some interesting and exciting designs, I was particularly happy with how my Prop design came out, i based the weapons of crude ways to fire projectiles and built the designs from that. and was really happy with how they came out. Kian’s Research came in handy while we were designing characters and props, as we had a good understanding of what the world that Isaac wrote about would be like if it was the same as the world we live in currently. We could develop props and set pieces logically so that not only do they look aesthetically pleasing, but also they look believable in the sense that if you saw it in real life you would know what it was.
I happy with my cinematography in my part of the Animatic, i tried to view the camera as if i was filming the scene in real life, and imagined how i would use it, then went on to frame and draw the scenes. As we went for quite the gritty aesthetic so i research how good war films were shot. many involving shaky camera and when movement is happening the camera follows the character. I tried to replicate this in the animatic, and i believe that the outcome was good, and would look even better if the piece became fully animated.
If we were to fully Animate our short story i would absolutely keep the Animation in 2D. The Main reason being that i feel that i do not have the skill to animate in 3D at this time, and in addition i do not have the resources of a giant production company to help develop and create giant landscapes in a program such as Maya, and is much more practical to manually draw them in in a program such as ToonBoom. I also feel that the style we have set for the story wouldnt transfer over well to 3D Animation and would look out of place. Overall i am very happy with how this project turned out, i feel that the people i worked with all had similar visions, and because of this, the production of the story ran smoothly, and the outcome is something that we are all pretty happy with. It would be interesting to continue with this project into our second year and develop it further into a full Animation.
